The 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VXD is a fast standard telephoto zoom lens developed for mirrorless full format cameras from Sony. Its most outstanding feature is the high image quality with a consistently high open aperture of F2.8 as well as its handy housing. With a length of only 149 mm (at 70mm) and a weight of only 810 g, it is the lightest and most compact lens in its class. The VXD autofocus is a world première: It is the first linear focus motor developed by Tamron for outstanding automatic focusing. Two VXD modules, which operate in a floating system and are controlled by electronic pulses, ensure fast and precise focusing on near and far lenses. The new motor also guarantees improved AF tracking, for example when shooting sports. The autofocus works so quietly at the same time that you can take pictures even in situations that require absolute silence. Nearest focusing distance only 0.85 m
The shortest focusing distance of the 70-180mm F2.8 is only 0.85 m regardless of the selected focal length. This is exceptionally short for a fast telephoto zoom lens. At 180mm, this results in a maximum image scale of 1:4.6 – ideal for expressive close-ups.

Versatile lenses with a uniform filter size
All available Tamron E-mount lenses have the same filter thread (ø 67 mm), so that the same filters and lens caps can be used with all models. All lenses are similarly compact and can be easily transported as a set.
